Arcadia

Why Book? Arcadia is considered one of Tom Stoppard‘s top 5 plays alongside The Real Thing (which we saw recently at the Old Vic), Travesties (my personal fav) and Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead.
Arcadia is often considered his masterpiece, juxtaposing past and present, exploring chaos theory, romanticism and the nature of knowledge. Expect to be challenged for sure!
Carrie Cracknell directs (Grapes of Wrath, Blurred Lines, The Deep Blue Sea, Medea at the NT which were big successes). We should be in for a treat.
“Sex, the attraction that Newton left out.’
Brilliant minds, burning hearts and the unstoppable pull between chaos and order.
In a country house, two centuries apart, genius unfolds. A teenage prodigy discovers the mathematics of the universe, as the adults around her fail to hide their passions under reason. In the present day, scholars chase the ghosts of that same household — seeking truth, proof and perhaps each other.”
Witty, moving and flirtatious, Tom Stoppard’s masterpiece is brought thrillingly to life by acclaimed director Carrie Cracknell.
